Student population growth at the college and a desire to push the limits of contemporary education is spurring the school to undertake renovations and capital projects, which are designed to enhance the school’s campus. During these projects, quick installation of temporary space is needed to adequately accommodate displaced classes. BOXX Modular was selected by Williams College to provide a 5,800-square-foot relocatable modular classroom building with turn-key installation.
The project began with specially designed foundations that included bell footers and poured concrete piers. A custom designed storm water management system with a drainage basin was also installed to handle water run-off. The custom-designed building was delivered to the campus in eight 12′ x 60′ sections and crane-set on the foundations. The project then required seaming of the building sections together, connection to underground utilities, fire alarm and sprinkler installation, pouring concrete sidewalks and steps, building a wooden deck with steps, grading, and hydro-seeding.
Williams College now has technology ready classroom swing-space that they will lease until their related capital project is complete. The school selected BOXX Modular on the company’s Massachusetts DCAM reputation and project price. They selected temporary modular building construction, because it is the most efficient and cost effective manner in which to secure short to medium term space that can be placed on their property.
If you are considering a renovation or expansion project that will displace students and faculty; it would be our pleasure to discuss with you how temporary modular buildings can benefit your school.
