Church growth made it necessary for the church to build additional classroom and office space for long-term use.
BOXX Modular worked closely with the church to design their custom permanent modular building to both architecturally and aesthetically blend in with the other church buildings on the property.
This beautiful 4,928 sq. ft. permanent modular classroom and office building was installed in just over three months, for St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove, Texas. Engineered roof trusses, installed on site, are finished with plywood and roof shingles which are designed, along with the rest of the building, to meet 140 mph wind load. A stucco exterior finish, applied on site, creates the final touch for an appearance that blends the new building in with the existing facilities.
Quick Facts
4,928 sq. ft.
Installed on a foundation that includes a perimeter poured concrete stem wall with interior ribbon footers, the custom permanent modular building floor plan includes eight classrooms, two offices, a children’s restroom, men’s and women’s restrooms, and a janitor’s room. The rooms are connected with a central corridor accessed by double doors on both ends.
One of the decisions St. John of the Cross Catholic Church’s committee had to factor in was the expenses they would incur due to the site’s distance from major cities, and the limited pool of available contractors. Modular construction alleviated these concerns, because the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, were already installed at the factory, leaving a minimal amount of work to be completed on site.
