Modular Project of Cape Coral Busey Bank

Late Summer and early Fall often bring extreme weather to the eastern coast of the United States, peppering the map with tropical storms and hurricanes. This season was no different, with at least three major weather events landing Florida in national headlines for much of September and October.

Hurricane season is a very active time of year for our MPA business, which specializes in disaster recovery for financial institutions. This October, they completed a rapid-deployment project following Hurricane Ian for Busey Bank, a long-time client in Cape Coral, FL.

Busey Bank

On Oct. 7, 2022, in the wake of Hurricane Ian, Busey Bank made a call to MPA’s Fort Worth branch, declaring a disaster situation. The severe storm had peeled back the roof on the existing Cape Coral Busey Bank branch, exposing the inside of the building and destroying the interior, flooring, walls and furniture inside the building, leaving it unusable. While repairs got underway, the client expressed a need for one of MPA’s plug-and-play bank buildings, allowing the branch to continue serving customers.

Temporary building, permanent impact

Busey informed the MPA team that evacuations and impassible roads would prevent any crews from visiting the site. While MPA’s teams waited for the client’s green light, they began preliminary work getting the recovery building ready. Once the client was ready for delivery, the Fort Worth team shipped the building and all its contents on Oct. 9. The bank arrived and was installed on Oct. 12.

While Busey Bank will only have the building on rent for 10 to 12 months, giving them ample time to complete repairs on their traditional site-built branch, the modular bank will positively and permanently impact our client.
