Expanding Learning Spaces: A Custom Modular Classroom Wing for a Growing School District

A school district in Massachusetts partnered with BOXX Modular to create a functional, welcoming learning environment for high school–aged students on an existing elementary school campus. The district needed additional space quickly, without compromising comfort, accessibility, or aesthetics.

A Custom Classroom Wing That Feels Like Part of the Campus

BOXX Modular delivered a four-classroom complex connected by wide hallways designed to accommodate older students. To seamlessly integrate the new structure with the main school building, the team designed and constructed a 20' x 30' conditioned connector that allows students and staff to move comfortably between spaces year-round.

The exterior was painted in the school’s grey and blue color palette in a bold color-block pattern. The site was arranged around an existing green space, transforming it into a natural outdoor area for students to enjoy.

BOXX Modular installed a custom chair lift in the connecting corridor, eliminating the need for a larger interior ramp while preserving valuable floor space. The building also includes upgraded infrastructure, including a full fire sprinkler system and a conditioned IT closet to support the school’s technology and safety requirements.

Cost-Effective Procurement & Long-Term Value

The district leveraged our Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Contract, avoiding a lengthy RFP process and reducing administrative costs. It allowed the client to accelerate timelines, stay within budget, and receive a high-quality building solution that delivers long-term value.
